Automobiles

Since my childhood, I have had a love affair with automobiles. This is not unusual for an American boy, but I have become more ambivalent about cars as I grow older. I am concerned by cultural impact (sprawl, smog, de-personalization) of automobiles. Even though I have several, I ride the train to work most of the time. I see them as mechanical works of art that bring me enjoyment.

While it seems that I was born with a Matchbox in each hand, it was the acquisition of a Triumph TR7 in 1988 that led me to becoming an active automotive hobbyist. I have included an article that I wrote for the British cars crowd, and some information about my cars.

Articles

Green Stuff Considered - an article on automobile coolants intended for the hobbyist (originally written for the TR7 WWW page in 1994).

Automobiles

Jensen Interceptor Convertible - easily the finest of my cars. Pretty though it is, there are a number of mechanical repairs that I need to make. Currently I am in the process of re-fitting the tacking bow so the top doesn't leak water into the trunk. Of course, while I have the bow out, I need to clean, prime and re-spray hidden parts of the bodywork to stop some minor corrosion.

Mercedes Benz 300SEL - I acquired this from my parents over the Christmas 1999 holidays and drove it back across the country to California.

the Others - 2 more ( 1967 Spitfire Mk 3, 1982 Pontiac Trans Am). The target is to reduce this number to 1.
